nourishing people and the environment
farming
Healthy vegetables grow in healthy soil, full of life and rich in nutrients. That is why we farm without artificial fertilisers or pesticides and strive to create a nutrient-rich environment for flora and fauna. We nourish the soil’s micro-organisms, grow crops that fix nitrogen and improve soil structure.
At Friland, we work with permanent beds and minimal mechanical tillage. We use the tractor for forestry work, for turning compost and for mowing the grassland. Almost all cultivation work is done by hand. We enrich our soil with compost that we make ourselves from grass clippings, crop residues, wood chips and a little farmyard manure from a local farmer. This is how Friland nourishes both people and the environment.
In our two unheated polytunnels (500 m²), we grow heat-loving plants such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, aubergines, chillies and herbs. In the open field (1500 m²), we grow everything from lettuce to pumpkin, from kale to beetroot, from peas to potatoes.
We supply our vegetables to both private customers and local restaurants.
We hope to be able to grow vegetables for you too!
